Na Mokulua - The Moks of Lanikai

Na Mokulua - The MoksNā Mokulua is two islets off the windward coast of Oahu in the Hawaiian Islands. About .75 miles off Lanikai Beach, they add to the spectacular views of the area. The islets, popularly referred to as The Moks, are among the most photographed landmarks in Oahu.

The name Na Mokulua means "the two islands" in Hawaiian. The larger island (on the left when looking from Lanikai) is Moku Nui and the smaller, Moku Iki. They are part of the Hawaii State Seabird Sanctuary and activities on them as well as off-limit areas on them are regulated by law. Moku Iki is particularly off-limits to visitors to protect the birds nesting in ground burrows.

Locals surf the breaks on both sides of Moku Nui and spearfish alongside tiger sharks where they are known to hang out on the ocean side drop off. Kayak tours to the islands are very popular but laws prohibit deliveries to Kailua or Lanikai Beach.
